Inequities in access to dental care in Brazil - What do we know and How can we move towards equity

In 2020, I was invited by the Universidad Austral de Chile to talk about #racism and dental services. The audience was dental students, mainly. My presentation focused on showing them the case of Brazil, and how the inequities present in the country could help them extrapolate to ethnic inequities in Chile.

Racial and ethnic #inequities in health follow a similar system. The system of power. So I asked you:

- What is the proportion of marginalised groups among the policymakers?

- What positions of power do these minoritised individuals occupy in society? If they do not, why don't they?

- Who has a better view from their window?

- Who is accessing the best treatments and services?

Now I ask you, who is reading this post, when was the last time you went to a dentist and he/she/they were from a minoritised group?
